Rabbi Michael Fine
Principal/Menahel, Yeshiva High School of Ottawa
A proud Ottawa native with almost twenty years of professional educational experience, Rabbi Fine is known for his dedication to his students and ever-willingness to go the extra mile for them inside and outside the classroom.
In Ottawa, Rabbi Fine has taught at Torah Day School, Torah Academy of Ottawa, OJCS, Yitzhak Rabin High School, Ottawa Talmud Torah Afternoon School, and Torah High where he also served as administrator. While at Torah High, Rabbi Fine led the school through a successful Ministry of Education inspection and wrote and developed the Ministry of Education online curriculum for several courses at the school.
Rabbi Fine attended Yeshivat Kerem B’Yavneh and Mir Yeshiva in Israel and holds two semicha certifications, one in conjunction with the Chief Rabbinate of Israel. He is the author of A Splash of Torah, volumes 1 and 2 (Adir Press, forthcoming) and several articles that have been published in prestigious Torah journals.
Rabbi Fine is the father of three children.
Rabbi Nachum Aaron Kutnowski
Head of School, Torah Day School of Ottawa
Rabbi Nachum Aaron Kutnowski joined Torah Day School as Head of School in July 2024. He brings over a decade of classroom and administrative experience to our school, as a successful educator with significant impact on schools and communities across Canada, including Toronto, Hamilton, and Calgary.
Rabbi Kutnowski was born and raised in Thornhill, Ontario, Canada. He received his early education at Yeshivas Eitz Chaim elementary school and Yeshivas Darchei Torah high school of Toronto. He continued his Jewish education and pursued further studies at Yeshivas Derech Etz Chaim of Har Nof in Eretz Yisrael. After returning to Toronto, Rabbi Kutnowski earned an honours degree in English Literature from York University. With a desire to continue growing his Jewish education, he became a fixture in the Kollel Ohr Yosef of Thornhill, under the guidance of Rabbi Mordechai Scheiner until his move to Hamilton where he taught at Hamilton Hebrew Academy and founded a night kollel. Rabbi Kutnowski has recently completed the Principal’s Training Program (PTI) through the Consortium of Jewish Day Schools (CoJDS). He is one of the founding members of the Menahelim Talking Chinuch (MTC) initiative under the guidance and leadership of Rabbi Dovid Engel, Shlita.
Rabbi Kutnowski’s strengths lie in his excellent communication skills, his ability to connect with individuals from many backgrounds, and partner with shareholders to implement a vision of growth and sustainable impact in a community. He is looking forward to building positive and authentic relationships with the parents, students, and staff of Torah Day and with the wider Ottawa Jewish community. Rabbi Kutnowski looks forward to cultivating every student’s unique personality and strengths in their unique service of Hashem and the Jewish people.
